To meet the stringent demands of today’s LPG industry, Corken offers several models of vertical and horizontal reciprocating compressors . Depending on the level of containment required, each piston rod is sealed with single, double, or triple packing.
Vertical Reciprocating Gas Compressors
A single packed vertical compressor does not offer oil-free gas compression and is typically used in non-corrosive, non-toxic applications where oil-free service is not required and leakage containment is not critical. Single packed compressors are commonly used in propane, butane, agricultural ammonia, and natural gas applications.
- Utilizes one set of V-ring packing per piston rod and
- No distance piece between the cylinder and crosshead guide

Horizontal Reciprocating Gas Compressors
When the pressures or capacities of the application are beyond the capabilities of a vertical compressor, Corken’s horizontal compressors are the next option. Unlike the vertical compressors using V-ring packing, Corken’s horizontal compressor uses a segmented packing design to seal the piston rod.
